For more than 20 years, the Red Hot Organization has been inviting iconic artists to record music to raise money and awareness to fight HIV/AIDS around the world. Now, Amplify and Red Hot are turning this music — including songs from U2 and Wu-Tang Clan to Willie Nelson and The National — over to a new generation of artists for the Red Hot+ video contest.

Red Hot+ is an opportunity for young artists and filmmakers to explore our unique experiences growing up with and being impacted by HIV and AIDS. More than two decades after the HIV/AIDS crisis began, our generation has its own stories to tell. Love stories and elegies, tales of quiet defiance, stigma, and public confrontation. Through short films and PSAs, the Red Hot+ contest aims to provide the catalyst (and the soundtrack) for a new conversation about HIV and AIDS.

The winning videos will be the centerpiece of an online marketing campaign for World AIDS Day 2011 (which will use Facebook and YouTube ads and promotions on numerous websites) and will be used by national, state, and campus groups to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS in the U.S. and around the world.

It's time to take a new look at HIV and AIDS through a contemporary lens. This is about young people. It's about you. It's about Red Hot + us.

The Red Hot+ video contest is a project of Amplify and the Red Hot Organization.

Amplify is an online community dedicated to sexual health, reproductive justice, and youth-led grassroots movement building. With commentary and activism on topics ranging from politics to pop culture, from sex education to LGBT equality, from storytelling to campus organizing, Amplify reaches more than one million people each year.

Amplify is a place to come together for a larger cause – the movement that we, as young people, have to lead. No one else is going to do it for us. And that's just fine, because we've already taken matters into our own hands.

Amplify is a project of Advocates for Youth, a DC-based nonprofit that champions efforts that help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health.

The Red Hot Organization is the leading international organization dedicated to fighting AIDS through pop culture.

Since 1989, Red Hot has produced fourteen groundbreaking albums, related television programs, and media events incorporating the talents of leading performers, visual artists, producers, and directors to raise funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS.

To date, these efforts have donated more than 10 million dollars for AIDS relief around the world.

Red Hot's ongoing work as a pro-social production company that artists trust with their creative work sets it apart from most charitable groups. By producing artist-driven projects that integrate elements from music, film, and other arts to both entertain and educate, Red Hot has broken down the traditional barriers between education, fundraising, and entertainment.

While marketing these AIDS-awareness related products in music and the arts, Red Hot has also raised urgently-needed funds for critical areas of AIDS research and education. Grants are awarded in keeping with the priorities of the epidemic in cooperation with existing AIDS organizations, such as the National Minority AIDS Council, ensuring that scarce monies will be used to their best effect.

Revenues from the sale of our albums and videos in foreign countries remain within each country to help support local AIDS prevention and relief.
